Colbert's Fed Up With Trump's Shirking of Blame for Russian Hacks

This the season to pretend to be surprised at gifts we should have seen coming. Socks, iTunes gift cards... Just what we wanted! But on Friday, "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert made it clear he's had enough of president-elect Donald Trump's playing dumb over Russia's hacking of the election—which helped deliver to Trump the early Christmas present of a presidential election win.
It's not like it's just the gift Trump asked for, or anything. Oh, wait, maybe it is, from back in July when Trump said in a press conference, "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press." Surprise!
As Colbert pointed out, the FBI this week confirmed it agreed with the CIA's earlier assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to help Trump win. But on Thursday, Trump tweeted: "If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act? Why did they only complain after Hillary lost?"
Visibly at the end of his rope, Colbert retorted, "They did complain, Donald! I complained too. The president complained."
And, Colbert reminded Trump before playing video proof of Donald taunting Russia while on the campaign trail, "You talked about it! You asked them to hack Hillary."
"Oh, you know where the Russians might find those [Clinton] emails?" Colbert added. "Wherever you're hiding your tax returns."Another weird part of all this? It had Colbert agreeing with a Fox news anchor, his guest later that episode, Shepard Smith.
