Pentagon says China has returned seized US drone

The underwater drone that was seized by the Chinese Navy was returned to US custody Monday.
The Pentagon announced that the vehicle was handed over near the location where it was taken in the South China Sea last week.
The Defense Department called the capture of the drone “unlawful” and demanded China “refrain from further efforts” to impede with routine operations.
The incident set off a diplomatic fracas as President-elect Donald Trump has taken a tough stance on China after his election.
“We should tell China that we don’t want the drone they stole back.- let them keep it!” Trump tweeted on Saturday.
China took issue with Trump’s use of the term “stole,” claiming they simply inspected and decided to return once they discovered it belonged to the US.
