Bello tasks finance commissioner to pay outstanding salaries

Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has directed the Commissioner for Finance to pay all outstanding salaries of workers for September and October with immediate effect.
Chairman, Review Committee on Kogi State Civil Servants Screening Exercise and the Auditor-General, Yakubu Okala, who disclosed this yesterday while addressing journalists at Banquet Hall, Government House, stated that the government is committed to the welfare of workers in the state.
He explained that the ongoing screening exercise in the state was not aimed at witch-hunting anybody, but to reposition the civil service.
Okala pointed out that the present administration was determined to make the Kogi State Civil service more effective and productive.
He explained that the ongoing screening exercise would soon wind up, adding that while the exercise lasted the workers were paid salaries.
The Auditor-General noted that the governor has directed the payment of outstanding salaries of all workers who have been screened up till October, stating that henceforth the workers’ salary would be paid as at when due.
He added that those claiming not to have received salary from January are those that either had problems or those who failed to appear before the screening committee.
