Pandemonium struck at Ufia Street in Otukpo, Benue State on Monday after a graduate of the University of Jos, Plateau State, Godwin Orinya, killed his mother.
Orinya, a native of Ado Local Government Area, LGA of the state, was said to have started acting strangely lately.
His ‘new’ attitude reportedly prompted his family to commit him to a local mental health care centre run by a man at Agboke, Ohimini LGA of the state.
The herbal doctor, who strictly uses herbal medicine as treatment for mental illnesses had reportedly gone out to get some herbs when Orinya pounced on his mother who was with him.
He beat her to death and escaped from the centre.
When contacted, the Benue Police Command image maker, Mr. Moses Yamu, told DAILY POST on Saturday that efforts were on to apprehend the suspect who is at large.
“We will get him as soon as possible, so he does not do harm to others.
