Nile Ranger is available for Southend's game at Oldham on Saturday
Southend United did not know Nile Ranger was due in court to face fraud and money laundering charges when he signed a new three-and-a-half year contract at Roots Hall two weeks ago.
Ranger pleaded not guilty to the charges at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, the former Newcastle United forward trained with his Southend team-mates and had a 30-minute meeting with manager Phil Brown.
Brown has confirmed Ranger is available to play in their Sky Bet League One match at Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
