Sick passenger causes Germany-bound Eurowings flight to land in St. John's

A Eurowings flight with 255 passengers and 10 crew on board was forced to land at St. John's International Airport early Thursday morning due to a sick passenger.
Flight 171 was on its way from Cancun, Mexico, to Cologne, Germany, when the Boeing 767 was diverted.
According to the St. John's Airport Authority, the aircraft arrived at approximately 1:50 a.m. NT.
The flight, operated by discount carrier TUIfly, left Cancun at 7:15 p.m. NT Wednesday.
By 9:00 a.m. NT Thursday the flight was still on the tarmac in St. John's, the airport authority said.
The status of the sick passenger is not known.
Eurowings is a German airline described operating since fall 2015 and is part of the Lufthansa group. TUIfly is owned by the TUI Group headquartered in Hanover, Germany.
