Conservative CNN pundit Jeffrey Lord looked a little dumbfounded when a fellow panelist accused Donald Trump of not being a “serious man.”
The schooling came at the hands of former White House aide under Bill Clinton, Keith Boykin.
“No he’s not a serious person,” he explained. “No one seriously believes, except for maybe Jeffrey and a few of Trump’s supporters, no one seriously believes Donald Trump is a serious man… a serious executive. A man who built this global company.”
Lord tried to claim that people are constantly underestimating the self-described billionaire, but Boykin wasn’t having it.
“He’s still on Twitter,” Boykin began his list of evidence. “Still attacking people. He’s still not taking intelligence briefings. He hasn’t had a press conference in 142 days. He hasn’t released his tax returns. His going against every traditional norm of politicians in history.”
Lord explained that this is because the world is changing.
“But there are some norms, basic acts of decorum that this president-elect hasn’t even begun to attempt to try to do to bridge that gap,” Boykin said. “There is a chasm in our country. A chasm a deep dividing chasm because of this election that just took place and Donald Trump is not doing anything to correct that.”
Lord attempted to claim that no one cared that Trump never released his taxes, it was only an interest to the media. In fact, when it was a campaign issue, the polls revealedthat 62 percent of voters did want Trump to release his taxes. Lord indicated that even if people wanted the information, Trump still won without giving it.
Boykin said that Clinton still won the popular vote by 3 million votes. Lord said, “Not in my state.”
