President Barack Obama all but closed the book on his eight-year presidency during an impassioned farewell speech, touting the successes of his two terms in the White House, but warned against impending threats against democracy rooted in fear.
Mr Obama gave his speech amid an a corrosive political climate as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office. Mr Trump campaigned on overturning many of the progressive policies the President enacted – the first of which being the Affordable Care Act.
