Rumour: Carl Jenkinson set for permanent switch to Crystal Palace this month

Arsenal‘s Carl Jenkinson is set to reunite with former boss Sam Allardyce this month, as Crystal Palace prepare a permanent transfer for the right-back.

As reported by the Daily Express, Allardyce is on course for a reunion with Jenkinson after managing him at West Ham United, with Palace moving ahead of their rivals in the chase for his signature in this month’s transfer window. The Hammers and Aston Villa were both interested in acquiring the 24-year-old’s services, but he’s not the former’s first-choice target. Although a deal is unlikely this month, Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier is West Ham’s preferred choice, opening the door for Palace to make their move for Jenkinson, according to the newspaper.
During his second loan spell at Upton Park last season, the right-back suffered a knee injury that ended his campaign, seeing him return to parent club Arsenal for further treatment. Following months of hard work, he finally made his return in October, giving Arsene Wenger another option at the back.
However Jenkinson has failed to push on since coming back into the fold, with Hector Bellerin clearly ahead of him in the pecking order, resulting in the Gunners’ decision to cash-in on the defender now, according to the paper.
